Overview
AFL Tunisian core team, the Municipality of Tunis, HIVOS, and the National Institute of Nutrition and Food Technology will receive the visit of our colleagues from ICELI, Cirad, and APHRC, as well as those from the city of Ouagadougou.
Three full days are scheduled -from 16 to 18 April 2024- for the program plan thematic workshops, meetings with partners and key stakeholders, and visits to intervention sites.
Series of visits to Tunis:
Also, several cultural activities are planned across the capital offering exchange opportunities with our colleagues. This will include an immersion in the historic heart of Tunis around the city hall, to become familiar with the historical context and the culinary evolution of Tunisia and Tunis, as well as an overview of the municipality’s food strategy.
Moreover, a dive into the food environment of Tunis is arranged, highlighting the different facets of its food supply chain. This will include visits to local restaurants, the Tunis Central Market, and other producer-to-consumer outlets, providing a comprehensive understanding of the local food system.
We also offer a visit to the sites where the first two experiments of WP4 will be implemented. These sites include the Belvédère Park for experimentation in urban agriculture, as well as the Agba site for “the daily basis market” direct point of sale from producer to consumer.
Workshop on methodology:
A specific methodology workshop will be held, notably addressing the food systems mapping methodology as well as pre-implementation data collection surveys., including the co-design of the work plan for the implementation of the three experiments selected.
Public event to present the interventions:
A public event will also be organized to present the planned interventions, in the presence of all stakeholders and key actors identified to be involved in these interventions.
